Design Inspiration Reference
Garrett at YourTotalSite.com posted up a useful tip about capturing design inspiration - rather than bookmarking pages or screen-grabbing the whole page, the technique they use at Bright Corner is to simply capture small portions of a design which give visual clues as to the details that they really appreciate, rather than getting too influenced by the whole design.
This makes a lot of sense to me, and in the absence of a quicker and easier way of storing these snippets of inspiration, I set up a Flickr group (the first time I’ve done this, and didn’t find it as easy as I thought it might be), to allow myself and others to upload their favourites.
To make it easier to do this sort of thing (I’m looking to do this in about 3 clicks, is that too much to ask these days?), I’d love someone to write an extension for Firefox that mixes the functionality of ScreenGrab with some image cropping with an easy upload to Flickr (or wherever).
Update
Well, although no-one is yet to add to the Flickr group pool, you may like to subscribe to the design inspiration RSS feed, on the off-chance that some design gems come your way.
WV4 is the online home of Rob Lewis, featuring a blog covering a variety of subjects, mainly web design, CSS and PHP, as well as featuring useful links to other websites.
